    • Teams – 1st & 2nd Scratch teams and the Pearson team (league interclub matches), plus friendly interclub matches
    • Competitions – Medals, Stablefords, Spring and Autumn Meetings, Lady Captain’s and Lady President’s Days
    • Ladies’ Academy – more below.

Over the years several of our lady members have represented their county both at senior and at junior level. On several occasions the ladies have won the accolade of Best County Scratch team and been finalists in the Pearson Trophy.

Harpenden Golf Club are delighted to be the first Golf Club in Hertfordshire to sign up to the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter, as of April 2020. By committing to the Charter, the Club hopes to grow the already strong section and to signify a welcoming facility to all. A full copy of the Club’s charter is available to view here.

    The Ladies’ Academy

We have recently launched The Ladies Academy offering golf lessons for beginners, or near beginners, in a group environment.

The Academy offers introductory group lessons (with no more than six in a group) from our Professional with all equipment provided, and a pathway into the Advanced Academy where individual lessons and on-course coaching is given. After one year in the Advanced Academy and, if sufficient progress has been made, you will be invited to join the Club.

All Academy Ladies are welcomed into the Ladies Section and are encouraged to participate in social activities and find they quickly bond with the more established lady members of the club. The Ladies Academy is a constant feeder of new members into the Ladies Section who by the time they join already feel very much part of the overall club.

For further information please contact the club’s office.

  • Juniors

At Harpenden Golf Club we have an active Junior Section with over 40 members ranging in age from 10 to 18 years (boys and girls). We run an exciting program of golf for all ages and abilities that gives our junior members an opportunity to develop and improve their skills in an enjoyable environment.

We have a qualified Assistant Professional, Finlay Mitchell, who came through the junior ranks himself at Harpenden Golf Club and who is also a past Junior Captain. All juniors are encouraged to take lessons in order to help them maximise their golfing potential and as an incentive, the Club runs promotional offers to subsidise these lessons. Finlay also runs regular ‘Introduction to Golf’ courses for children wishing to take up the sport.

Our Juniors get involved throughout the year in the following:

    • Harpenden Golf Club adult competitions and Junior events
    • Club Matches and Leagues
    • Knockout competitions
    • County League and Events
    • The Hertfordshire Junior Champion Club.
    • We are very proud to represented nationally by Jack Bigham, who is an active member of the England Boys teams.

Juniors are encouraged to participate in other County events such as the Futures Tour for 6 to 11 year olds and the iTour for 10 to 14 year olds and to play in some of the Junior Open competitions. Results from these events are fed into the County Order of Merit which then allows the County to offer Academy coaching places to any rising stars.

For further information please contact the club’s office.

    SafeGolf

Harpenden Golf Club are proud to be recognised as a SafeGolf Venue.

    What is SafeGolf?

SafeGolf is a partnership of UK golf bodies committed to promoting a safe and positive environment for all those participating, working and volunteering in the sport of golf.

The SafeGolf partnership consists of members from the golfing bodies across Great Britain & Ireland and has been established to help golf respond to the issue of child protection in sport. Its mission is to safeguard the welfare of children and young people, as well as adults at risk, in the sport of golf.

SafeGolf is firstly, a website – www.safegolf.org – through which anyone with a concern about the welfare of a player, or the behaviour or practice of a coach, volunteer, organiser, parent or a player, can contact the lead safeguarding officer at their national governing body.

Secondly, it is the safeguarding standard England Golf will promote to all their affiliated clubs to ensure all clubs provide a safe and positive experience to children and young people whilst playing golf. The PGA are also using the standards to apply to all their PGA professional Coaches.
